and then onto one church and then to a Cathedral which is a Museum and attraction these days - another €4 well spent! Inside Chapel - pretty impressive

Great rooftop terrace that you can walk around with turrets and bells and dangerously low walls with gaps that we could fall through v. easily - but we don’t although we feel a little uneasy. We get a great shot of an American lady doing cartwheels on the rooftop. Turns out they own a gymnastics academy and she is sending it home as inspiration for their gymnasts.

Also fabulously beautiful inside church and v large and old pipe organ that is still functional - made of oak wood and built in the 16th century.
and one of the oldest and most famous in Europe.

Time for obligatory morning tea but today we have our own (supermarket) biscuits - so first day of no Pastel de Nata! We find a seat outside cathedral beside a British couple who live in Algarve half the year or more. Some people we've met were registered as citizens of Portugal before Brexit so they're not affected by the 90 days in 180 day rule. Nice couple, but we didn't get away from them until an hour later.

Checked out the Roman Temple ruins.

Suitably fortified we found the Aqueduto (ie aqueduct) on the outskirts of the old town wall - fairly impressive but never finished due to what is described as ‘imponderables’ - whatever that means??

Then back up the hill to the big church (free) and the attached Chapel of the Bones. It's a Chapel which is made of skeletal bones and skulls around every wall - quite impressive!

After a big day, we find a bus stop and head home. Go to Snack Bar, Bob buys beer while I battle wifi trying to send next blog.
Likely scrambled eggs for dinner tonight and an early night as off to next little village tomorrow. We're following the Classic Trips from the Lonely Planet Guide Book that will take us all the way to South East Spain and all stops along the way (who says nothing is planned!)

Adeus for now
