Set off towards Faro but stop in at Lagos on the way, and decide it looks good so we will stay here for a night or two. We stop at the local supermarket call "Pingo Doce" (we've been to a few of them!) and have lunch in the car park while Bob watches the F1 qualifying (the life of an F1 widow!)
Here's our campsite dinner for the evening - noice!
Delicious rissoles with salad at campsite
We start the next morning watching the Broncos claim the GF 👏👏 - yoohoo! We do a little research on where "we" can watch the Formula 1 and there's a nice looking bar on the Marina that claims "if we're not showing what you want - just ask and we'll put it on for you". So we call an Uber to go into Lagos and go straight to Lighthouse Bar and yes they are showing F1. Bob get's the best seat in town and settles in for a few beers and we both have lunch while watching. Lots of people watching the F1 plus other sports in the Bar but its all contained quite well so you don't hear the other sports going on - just the clapping.
Best spot in town for Bob to watch F1 - Lighthouse Bar

Beautiful building covered in titles - Lagos
Afterwards we wander along waterfront and through old town - it’s bloody hot and after a few beers Bob's dehydrated so we sit down in the Square in the shade for rest and more water. Jazz band tuning up but don’t start for 45 mins, so we try to find a mini market , no luck so settle for gelato! Then we catch another Uber back to campsite - don't need dinner so have a couple of corn thins with prosciutto and cheese and go to bed .
Next day, we set off from Lagos camp to have a look at Silves - which has an old Castelo on top of the town. Beautiful views around the district from the ramparts, and some archeological ruins inside - very pleasant and definitely worth our while coming to Silves. We sea a large bird, (like an Ibis but better looking) which created a lovely nest on top of some old ruins.

Then we head off to Carvoeiro looking for interesting rock formations. Drive into town, definitely nowhere to park here, up and down tiny streets - so go up a main exit road looking for somewhere. End up a few kms out of town, stop and regroup, and plug in the specific "rock formations" and we're 5 kms away (not in Carvoeiro at all!). There're at Praia da Marinha so we drive there. Trying to find a parking spot for a van is not easy - Bob tries several spots, I'm trying to direct Bob (without much luck), we hold up lots of other cars trying to park and eventually another guy comes along and directs Bob out. Eventually we say "bugger it" and park in bus parking!! We scoot out to the headlands quickly (only 200m), and take some photos of what is spectacular formations but the sun unfortunately in wrong position so not great shots. Dash back to carpark (all good 🙃), and set off for Faro for the night.

Arrive at Faro Campismo de Municipal (?), which is a Council run site of granite dirt pitches but pleasant outlook - ocean on one side and large ‘lagoon’ on the other and the airport is just across the lagoon. Interesting the number of flights in and out of the Faro airport. It's actually somewhat "entertaining" watching the planes take off and land along the runway.
Adeus for now
