Faro

Ola

Last day in Portugal. We catch a ferry to Faro across the lagoon - similar to Venice but lots more natural. Loads of people on first ferry of day (no don’t worry we aren’t up at the crack of dawn, the first ferry is at 10.30am) who are coming over to the beach for the day.

Nice old town by the water and of course there is a Church to look at, and again it’s pretty impressive and the entry gets you to museum and courtyard with tiny Chapel for St Michael and a small Bones Chapel. As I say, the Church is pretty impressive with about 10 different Chapels and another grand wooden pipe organ inside - so there's lots and lots of photos!

Also you get to climb the Bell Tower, which is again hard work with v skinny staircase (one way at a time), steep, high steps ( surely they don’t meet Building Regs!), and worn sandstone to the point of being slippery - but we make it up although it takes a bit out of me.

Wander rest of town and see the "usual" sardine shop and lovely parks. It’s hot again, so (eventually) find a spot to buy (so far most expensive) decaf, soy! coffee, and Bob finds a store for Coke and water, and we sit in a nice park and eat our morning tea (what’s the time again?) - who knows?

Head off to the other important Church but alas it’s closed between 1-3pm, so walk back towards the town, find kebab joint, and after much debate it’s a Doner kebab for B (nice, big, almost enough for two) and chicken wrap for K (nice if you like lots of red onion). Chat to Aussies who come and sit at next table , from Pemberton in WA, and on an Intrepid tour (which they are enjoying).

Catch a ferry back , take a quick squiz at the beach and settle in for nibbles only as not v hungry again.

Adeus for now
