Toledo - day 1
15.11.2025 - 15.11.2025
After a travel day to Toledo and setting up at Camping El Greco (the same campsite we stayed at in 2009!), we're ready to investigate Toledo again (2009 was a while ago! - if you remember it was just when the GFC hit and hence the reason for our trip in 2009). First of all, here's a little hire car at our campsite:
We safely negotiate catching the bus into old town Toledo, and set forth for the Tourist Info Centre - with the help of 3 shop ladies we ascertain that the one in the Main Square is not there anymore, and armed with instructions we head off to find the other one. After a bit of round and round, and round again we find the Catedral and the Town Hall Square and thus the Tourist office (which hindsight tells us is straight down the Main Street and turn right, but not quite where the ‘ladies’ suggested it would be).
We choose to mainly spend some time in the Catedral (yes another one) - which again is truly magnificent. And it’s somewhere we didn’t go last time we were here. The only 2, related, annoyances are that the Main Altar and some minor areas are sectioned off for a concert tonight, and this makes following the Audio guide quite challenging, so half the time we are looking at one thing and hearing about another - but never mind.
As I said, the Catedral is truly magnificent:

Then we went and found a little mosque that we missed when we breezed by earlier, with historical foundations from the Romans below it:

We then went and found the Alcázar Museum which turns out was right near the bus stop but, depending on which map you used and GPS guidance, seems to have 6 different names. But alas it was 4.00pm and no more entries for the day (as it closes at 4.30pm). And that was enough for the day so we walked right across the road and got on the bus!
Over and out until tomorrow.
